Our CEO on the AI Landscape: What's Changing, What's Next

Our Ceo Tom sat down with GTM Associate Ben to ask a simple question: what's actually changing out there and what's coming next?

"It's a great question, one I get asked all the time," he says. "I don't have a crystal ball, but there's clearly a shift happening from vanilla automation to agentic automation. And now we're moving into reasoning and truly autonomous capabilities, which is a lot of what we're working on."

One of the biggest shifts Tom's noticed is a wider appreciation for the full AI stack, the model is just one piece of the puzzle.

"People are focusing more deeply on the data layer. Knowledge graphs, memory, context layers, how integral they are to actually reasoning across that data. There's a real appreciation now for the wider stack."

That extends beyond generative AI too. Tom points out that large language models and transformer architecture get most of the attention but there's a whole "blue ocean" of machine learning that existed long before generative AI became the headline act.

Furthermore, as companies get more hands on experience with these systems, the limitations of these models are becomming even more apaprent.

"They only become more capable when lots of other things are overlaid,"

This is leading to a growing recognition that vanilla, off the shelf AI tools deliver limited value in isolation. Real, tangible impact has to be built from within, custom and bespoke to each organisation.

As Tom puts it, it's a bit like plumbing or wiring in a building. You can't just bolt something on and expect it to work... you have to build it in properly to see real change.
